Updates from the front lines of major organizational change that is really stressing all of us out, but that is ultimately going to change the lives of students with disabilities and their families. In good ways. And you’re part of that. So that’s cool, right?

Student becomes eligible for DVR Student & VRC begin work together Referral to IL and/or CRP for Pre-Employ Svcs

Comprehensive/Partial Eval Help student evaluate needs Peer Mentoring Peers working in competitive employment. Self-advocacy  Using AT, negotiation, person-centered planning, etc. Skills Training Travel, self-care, social, etc. Work-Related Systems Access Accessing health care, human resources, Social Security, etc.

Info Interview Learning about careers of interest Job Exploration  Interests, values, strengths  Career ideas  Other activities as identified by student, VRC, teacher, family Job Shadow Job observation (1-4 hrs) at a business in the community tailored to student career interests Social Skills Helping student develop and practice employment-related interpersonal skills

11 New! Pre-Employment CRP services
Work-Based Learning Experience A paid educational opportunity for an individual student to try out work tasks at businesses in the community. Between 4-12 weeks, 11 or more hours per week. Workplace Readiness Training Takes place while a student is on-site at the Work-Based Learning Experience. Helps the student learn social and other soft skills in practice.

Job coaching not permitted Employer will be reimbursed for additional training a student may need

13 WBL Wages Modeled after summer youth employment: Vendor pays, Funder reimburses DVR will add a 15% admin to hourly wage for admin costs ($ $1.65) Monthly pay is ok
