Taiga By: Jaiya Thomas, Maria pilgrim, Hayden Duke, Austin Williams
2
Location Within the 7 continents the taiga is located in northern north America and northern Europe and Asia
3
Climate The taiga is ra region of cold bit not always frozen under some tundras. The taiga is hotter than a tundra biome and also receives more precipitation annually, but mostly in the summer. Winters are long and cold and summers are mild.
4
Producers and consumers in the Taiga
Pine Trees Spruce Trees Maple Trees Consumers Bears Wolves Lynx
5
The Soil in the Taiga The layers in the soil are thin Its acidic
And it has very poor nutrient
6
specific adaptations for animal in the taiga
Most animals migrate to warmer climates once the cold weather begins. Some animals have adapted to life in the taiga by hibernating when temperatures drop. Other animals have adapted to the extreme cold temperatures by producing a layer of insulating feathers or fur to protect them from the cold.
7
Specific adaptation for plants in the taiga
The trees in the Taiga are mainly spruce, pine, and fir. The plants adapt to harsh weather in this environment, like icy and snowy winters. the needles of the pine are very smooth to help keep water inside the dark casing. The spruce's cone like shape allows them to shed ice and sleet more efficiently.
8
Advantages of Living within the Taiga
Warmer than tundra More precipitation Summer is short and mild
9
Disadvantages of Living within the Taiga
Winters are long and cold Little light reaches the lower parts of the forest because of the growth of the trees Fewer plants can grow due to this Caterpillars feed on pine tree often killing the tree
10
We gave the taiga a 3.5/5 Biomes survivability
