Put full trash bags on empty ones (or piece of plastic) in case they have liquid in them. This prevents stains on the floor and slip hazards.
Never compress trash with your hands or feet. Either don’t pack it down or use the wastebasket bottom or broom.
Trash heavy items, like papers and books, separately. Remember what you dump in the barrel has to be lifted out.
Never hug a full bag of trash or sling it over your shoulder Handle it from the top only.

Tie the top of the liner.
Tip the can on its side.
Pull the liner out of the trash can carefully.
If a bad is too heavy to handle from the top only, put your other hand (USING A HEAVY GLOVE) under the bad away from your body.
Trash cans & liners may contain sharp objects like needles, razor blades, and broken glass. NEVER put your hands in any trash container or liner, even if wearing gloves.
Empty wastebaskets by removing the liner or dumping the basket. If trash is stuck use a ‘stick’ (such as a broom handle) to loosen.
Do not place biohazard trash in regular disposal bins. It must be disposed of separately. See your supervisor for instruction.
