What Was the Boxer Rebellion?
A series of Chinese rebellions against missionaries and foreign forces China had been forced to sign “Unequal Treaties” to foreign powers Lasted from Concentrated in northern China where European powers demanded land, rail and mining rights

Who were the “Boxers”? Boxers is the common name given to the Righteous Harmony Society (Band) Their name was mistranslated as Fists of Righteous Harmony Anti-foreigners

How Did the Boxer Rebellion Begin?
Resentment increased after China lost a war to Japan ( ) It began as the “Boxers” started attacking foreign compounds in modern-day Beijing A top-ranking German diplomat was killed A multinational force of 54,000 troops is sent to China Includes troops from: Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, France, U.S., Germany, Italy and Austria

The Chinese Government is forced to sign the Boxer Protocol of September 7th 1901 High-ranking Chinese officials are to be executed for their role in the rebellion China has to pay about $333 million in reparations over 39 years
