1 JAZZ ACADEMY IN GORZÓW

2 HISTORY In April 1986, the first lesson of MAJ (Little Academy Of Jazz) took place in Gorzów Wlkp. Since then students from Gorzów and neighbouring towns have been attending jazz concerts, performances and lectures. Bogusław Dziekanski, the director of the Jazz Club "Pod Filarami", is the organizer of MAJ in Gorzow. The aim of the Little Academy of Jazz is to educate musical taste of children and young people, to shape their habits and cultural needs, to develop their interests as well as good manners and to broaden their minds.

4 Every year between September and June, there are an average of 238 jazz performances and lectures for students of primary and junior high schools. Separate programmes are prepared for music school students and university students children and young people participate in the classes every year. Throughout all the years, the Little Jazz Academy has educated about 32,000 students.

5 Our students take active part in the classes.

6 TEACHERS Lecturers of the Little Jazz Academy are outstanding jazz musicians and theorists. Over the years, over 90 Polish and foreign jazzmen appeared on the stage, among others Tomasz Szukalski, Artur Dutkiewicz, Henryk Majewski, Zbigniew Jakubek, Wlodek Pawla, Jarosław Śmietana, Piotr Baron, Brad Terry, Freddy Cole, Hans Hartmann and Urszula Dudziak.

7 BANDS Beale Street Band, Blues fellows and Vistula River Brass Band were among those bands which performed in Jazz Club Pod Filarami.

8 Teachers taking part in the transnational meeting in Gorzów also listened to a jazz concert in Jazz Club Pod Filarami.
