Completed by: Hwandong Joo Electrical Engineering Capstone Design Project Background System Design The Smart Pet Sitter is an idea that the user can take care of their pet from outside. People cannot feed food and monitor their pets when they are outside. Most people put lots of food before they are leaving. But, the pet eat all of it, so they become fat. Also, if people are away from home for a long time, people do not know how much food they should give to pet. The smart pet sitter will combine with food dispenser (Figure 1). The servo motor is rotated at set times that set by users and feed the food in the container. The load cell(Figure 1-a) checks how many food is given and send signal to raspberry pi and stop the servo motor is rotating. (Figure 1-b) Also, the camera(Fig 1-c) can take a video, the microphone (Fig 1-d) can catch noise, and the speaker (Fig 1-e) can play a sound. In application, the user can connect to Raspberry pi by IP address and port number(Figure 2-a). The user can click the button and execute each of functions. By using button(Figure 2-b), user can add or reset the set times to feed and can stream the video by using camera at any time.(Figure 2-c). This product can feed fixed amount of food automatically at set times by a user. While user stay outside, they can watch their pet by using camera. Web Server Servo motor Speaker Raspberry pi Figure 2 b c Testing & Conclusions a All tests are designed for checking the various functions operate properly. The hardware test are designed to operate the servo motor and load cell as intended. The servo motor can rotate and stop at a time intended and load cell can count the weight of food. The software test are designed to operate the web server as intended. The application can access the server and each of functions will operate when the button is clicked.
