Background Program Objectives:
ENSURING THAT FINANCIAL AND OPERATING STANDARDS ARE MET. Program Objectives: Voting Assistance Officers (VAOs) ensure that citizens covered by the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) understand their voting rights and how to register and vote absentee and provide accurate nonpartisan voting information and assistance.

Measurable Goals DELIVER 100% REQUIRED ANNUAL TRAINING.
ENSURE 100% DELIVERY OF SF76 (FEDERAL POST CARD ACT) TO ALL ELIGIBLE VOTERS. ENSURE ALL PERSONNEL CHECKING IN/OUT VISIT THE VAO AND HAVE THEIR RIGHTS EXPLAINED AND ASSISTANCE OFFERED.

Execution of Goals How Do we Accomplish Goals:
ANNUAL TRAINING SENT TO ALL DEPARTMENTS TO ENSURE ALL UOCAVA PERSONNEL RECEIVE TRAINING. SF76 TO ALL ELIGIBLE VOTERS AND TRACK USING COMMAND MUSTER SHEET. MONITOR CHECK INS/OUTS AND DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO TURN IN CHECK IN/OUT SHEETS WITHOUT THE VAO’S SIGNATURE.

SELF-ASSESSMENT STRENGTHS - Green RED, YELLOW or GREEN?
Conducted Bi-annual Voting Assistance Workshop. (All Naval Station VAO’s present) First Voting Assistance Office established on NAVSTA. VAO’s are present at all INDOC classes to further interact with newly reporting personnel and inform them of their right to vote. 30JUN14-07JUL14 Armed Forces Voters Week. Various events to encourage voter registration and inform voters of their right to vote absentee. WEAKNESSES: Lack of interest in voting or registering to vote from Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) voters. Personnel “N/A ing” VAO on check in/out sheet (This area is improving with newly reporting personnel checking in with VAO). Course of Actions: Emphasize the importance of personnel checking in and out with VAO. Continue the push to inform UOCAVA voters of their right to vote absentee.
