2 Starter Activity:

3 Learning Outcomes Aspire:
Be able to describe the role played by planes in movement Challenge: Be able to identify the key components of the planes system

4 Starter Activity: 10 Questions?
1- What is a lever? 2- What are the 4 parts to a lever? 3- What is mechanical advantage? 4- What is a first class lever? 5- What is a second class lever? 6- What is a thirds class lever? 7- What is the frontal plane? 8- What is the Transverse plane? 9- What is the sagittal plabe? 10 – What does the term multi-planer mean?

6 Frontal Plane The frontal plane runs vertically and divides the body in sections between the front and back. Movements in this plane are sideways movements of adduction and abduction. Eg. Star jumps, legs in breaststroke.

7 Transverse Plane The transverse plane divides the body into upper and lower sections. Movements in this plane are rotational. Eg. Bowling in cricket- rotation on the shoulder joint.

8 Sagittal Plane The Sagittal plane splits the body vertically into left and right sides. Movements in this plane are the up and down movements of flexion and extension. Eg. Leg action in running.

9 Mini Plenary Aspire: Be able to describe the role played by planes in movement Challenge: Be able to identify the key components of the three planes.
