1 Nuclear warfare/ North Korea BY: Ryan Long, Kyler Noble, Natalie Ailor, and Clare Shi

2 What is the issue? Nuclear weapons are tools of mass destruction, and they have been threatening to hit the US with their nuclear weapons. If a nuclear weapon is launched and hits a city in the United States, it could start a war between North Korea and the United States and all of their allies on each side, which could devastate cities.

3 Where is this happening?
This issue is currently happening in North Korea and the United States since North Korea has a nuclear weapon program and is developing some nuclear bombs and weapons. It has happened before during the Cold War between the US and the USSR where nuclear weapons could’ve started a global war.

4 WHEN IS IT OCCURING? WHEN DID IT START?
The first nuclear bomb was dropped on July 16, Three weeks later, on April 6, 1945, America bombed Hiroshima. Three days later, America bombed Nagasaki. Nuclear bombs are still a threat, with countries like China, India, Israel, France, North Korea, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States containing around 16,000 nuclear weapons.

5 HOW ARE THINGS HAPPENING?
In 1945, the United States of America was the only country that had the ability to manufacture or deploy nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapon programs existed in several other countries, even though defeat in World War 2 ended the Japanese and German programs. Over time, the countries that possessed nuclear weapons increased, with China, France, the UK, the US, and the Soviet Union all possessing nuclear weapons in 1964 because of technology advancements. Today, there are nine countries with nuclear weapons, with North Korea being the most recent addition.

6 WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE? This is an issue because North Korea is planning to send nuclear missiles toward the United States, which could start a war between the two countries and other countries that have ties with North Korea and the United States.

7 HOW IS CULTURE INVOLVED?
Nuclear Warfare in different countries often depends on how advanced in their type of technology a country may be and the amount of money they’re able to spend. Different people might not be as willing to take those risks of nuclear plant meltdowns and their amount of money.
