Why be Accredited? FSEC accreditation demonstrates to the public, purchasers, and payers, that patients can expect a comparable level of safe and quality care in an FSEC that would be expected in a hospital-based emergency department. Standards are based on regulations and recommendations from the following; American College of Emergency Physician, CMS Conditions of Participation, Center for Disease Control United States Pharmacopeia National Fire Protection Association Institute for Safe Medication Practices, Agency for Healthcare Research & Policy, and the Texas Association of Freestanding Emergency Centers CIHQ - All Rights Reserved 2019

Survey Facts Frequency: At least every 36 months Length / Number of Surveyors: 1 -2 days One clinical surveyor (MD or RN) Survey Activities: Opening conference Review of policies and procedures Tour of the facility and care areas Review of medical records Review of personnel files and training records Review of physician credential files Observation of care practices Exit Conference CIHQ - All Rights Reserved 2019

Accreditation Facts Survey Outcomes: Pass / Fail. As long as an acceptable plan of correction has been submitted and implemented, the facility passes its survey. Duration of Accreditation: 36 Months Survey Notification: Surveys are announced Survey Frequency: Initial surveys occur within 4 months of application acceptance Reaccreditation surveys occur every 36 months.
