Laura Kempf Wade Lau Total Time of this presentation is 2 hours. The presentation is intended to be very interactive. Thus minimal slides are required. The Slides at the end demonstrate roughly how the activities would be run and timing. These slides would not be displayed. They are for timing and planning only.

2 A Little Fun to start…. Who has the banana
INTRO – Laura introduces herself and missing fellow facilitator Wade Lau. One table has will have a banana. Laura will take serious voice that we cant start until we address one critical thing. Where is the banana? Please hold up banana. Wade will come over as a gorilla in shirt and tie (3 min)

Laura to comment that at year end presentation this idea was given as suggestion. We have used it at Truven and wanted to return favor by teaching it back. Activity could be used for agreement or brainstorming. We will only do two rounds and then explain the activity and go over insights. More time might be needed to get to solution but we want everyone the opportunity to participate.

5 COMMUNICATION Depends on room but plan is to divide room in half and run two groups (roughly 9 people each) with rest observing. Then dissect the activity.

Ball activity to demonstrate waste removal – what an RIE is like.

7 MORE FUN THE IMPORTANCE OF STORIES AND VIDEOS
Most of the presentation has focused on activities but stories and videos play an important role as well. Wade to tell story he uses in RIE. Laura to show 8 waste video of her daughter made for RIEs. Possibly also show video of kids in ball exercise at school.

9 Ritual Dissent Activity
5 min Rules/Team set up (4 of 7/8 members) 5 min Discuss idea (brand Lean to the world, what would be your slogan?) 15 min (team speaker to 3 tables, 5 min per table, 1min speaker presents, 4 minutes for table to criticize with team lead turned in chair, while taking notes) 5 min Team Speaker to go back to original team and present feedback from 3 tables 5 min – Team alters presentation 3 min – Team alters presentation 7 min – Group discussion on how activity worked for idea 5 min - Recap Activity by facilitators MATERIALS – 2 clipboards with paper/pen, The intent here is to teach the activity not to actually get a final answer which could take few more rounds. At recap, Wade speak to when Laura did activity (1 min) and Laura to summarize (4 min). Total 70 min

10 Communication 3 min Rules/orientate members (3 teams of 4, everyone else watching) 9 min Activity 3 min - Recap Activity by facilitators REMINDER – MATERIALS: NOTECARDS WITH INSTRUCTIONS AND BAGS OF MARKERS Analogies of this activity equate to levels of management communicating. Total 15 min

3 min Rules/orientate members (3 teams of 4, everyone else watching) 9 min Activity (3 chances at 3 min each to improve) 3 min - Recap Activity by facilitators MATERIAL: BALL, TIMER Analogy of this activity is lean event team removing waste. Total 15 min

12 The Importance of Stories and Videos
3.5 min – Wade story 3.5 min – personal video Stories and videos also have a role to play both in fun and in learning. (Total 7 min) TOTAL TIME PRESENTATION: 2 hours
