Arrival and Dismissal Please refer to the separate handout in regards to arrival and dismissal procedures. These procedures will also be listed on the campus website. When picking up your child, please be patient because the lines are long. Remain in your vehicle and your child/children will be brought to you. If you place the Name Tag in your front window, a teacher will be able to take your child to you quicker. No students should be picked up in the front office unless there is an emergency or given approval by administration. Reminder: Cell phone use in the school zones is prohibited. The fine is $250-$300 and local Police will be monitoring.

How are you getting home?
Please let your child’s teacher know how your child will be getting home before you leave orientation. “Right at School” morning and after school care Daycare Bus-please make sure to give bus number Pick-up We encourage you to keep your child’s method of getting home the same, but if you need to make a change, please send a note to your child’s teacher or call the office before 2pm..

Bus Information Bus routes are available through the transportation department or the front office. They are also located in the cafeteria today should you have questions. Please let your child’s teacher know what bus your child will be riding.

Emergency Contact Information If you have a change in phone numbers or address, please let the office and your child’s teacher know immediately. Please complete the student information sheet so the office has the appropriate information.

Attendance Policy Attendance is a very important part of education.
Students should be in attendance at least 90% of the school year. Please refer to policies in the Student Code of Conduct/Handbook for specific items in regards to attendance.

Lunch times are as follows:
PK 10:30-11: rd 11:55-12:25 K 10:40-11: th 12:05-12:35 1st 11:10-11: th 12:30-1:00 2nd :20-11:50 Parents may eat lunch with their child/children in the picnic area located between buildings A and C Lunch prices are $2.55 for students/$3.60 for adults.

Parent Volunteers There are several opportunities for parents to volunteer throughout the year. All volunteers are required to complete a criminal background check and an annual volunteer training. Volunteer training will be held in the first 6 weeks of school. There is also a PTO on campus with their first meeting on September 16th

Join Castroville Elementary PTO (CES PTO)
Simply join by filling out the membership form and return it to your child’s teacher with a $5 family membership fee in the envelope provided. Receive s regarding information on our campus. Members are able to vote on important decisions at meetings. Be a part of making a positive influence on our campus. Network, socialize, and use your skills to help join our CES PTO facebook page for all the updates: Castroville ES PTO

Parent Volunteers If you are interested in volunteering, contact your child’s teacher. Visitors must sign in and out in the office. Visitor badges will be given and must be worn while on campus. When visiting campus, an ID will be required. We will use the ID to print a visitor’s badge. Volunteers must adhere to dress/grooming code of conduct.

Schedule Your child will attend computer, PE, and music in a 5 day rotation. Your child will attend library once a week. Please make sure to send your child’s library book on their designated library day each week. Your child will need to wear tennis shoes on the days they have P.E.

Drills The following safety drills will be practiced throughout the school year including the first 2 weeks of school: Fire Severe Weather Lockdown Campus Evacuation

Grading Policy/Reporting
All parents MUST COMPLETE ONLINE FORMS in Skyward as soon as possible. Parents are encouraged to use Skyward to keep up to date with student’s grades and attendance. Report cards will be uploaded in Skyward this year, no paper copies will be sent home. Parent conferences will be held at the end of the first six weeks to discuss your child's progress. Please refer to the Student Handbook/Code of Conduct for questions in regards to academics.

Discipline Please refer to the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct for specific discipline procedures and expectations to be followed.

Parent /Teacher Conferences
If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher during the school year, please make an appointment with the teacher. You may send a note or call the teacher during their planning period to set up a conference. Concerns should be addressed through your child’s teacher prior to reaching out to administration.

School Nurse Please see Nurse Clark if your child has a
medical condition that you need to discuss with her or medicine to drop off. The nurse’s office is located in Building A. All medicine must be exchanged adult to adult. Students are not to be in possession of medicine at anytime.
