Conceptual diagram of dopaminergic system and disease and drug effects. Treatment to replace deficient dopamine or otherwise stimulate the dopaminergic system in Parkinson’s disease may cause hallucinations and paranoia, a form of drug induced psychosis. Schizophrenia patients treated with neuroleptics may develop a movement disorder, such as tremor, parkinsonism, or tardive dyskinesia.
