With Spain no longer a major threat, France emerged as the greatest rival to Great Britain By 1756, France and Britain had built huge empires in North America and were competing to become the strongest world power.

3 Cause of The French and Indian War
The War broke out over the Ohio River valley (known for the rich resource of fur). Being initially fought far from Georgia’s borders, it had little impact on the state. (not a cause)

4 Basic Stats Began in 1754 It lasted nine years
Part of a larger worldwide war known as the Seven Years War Led to the American Revolution

5 Fear that one country would gain more power than the other

8 And the Winner is… Britain defeated France and her Allies by 1763.
Outcome of War: France gave up all of its North American Colonies Spain was forced to give La Florida to Britain, but they were granted most of the French territory west of the Mississippi River

England took over…. West of the App. Mtns. To the Miss River And Canada BEFORE 1763 AFTER 1763

Georgia’s border changed: South to St. Mary’s River  West to Mississippi River North to land around Augusta How did this lead to the American Revolution? King stated in the Proclamation of 1763 the colonist were not allowed to settle west of the Appalachian Mtns. One of 1st disagreements b/w King and the colonists
