LT- Today, I can differentiate between photosynthesis and cellular respiration by reading diagrams.
What is photosynthesis and when is it used? What is cellular respiration and when is it used? Do Now: What types of cells use photosynthesis? What types of cells use cellular respiration?
2
Animal Cell vs Plant Cell
Plant cell has: A cell wall Large vacuole Chloroplast The plant cell is rectangular
3
Photosynthesis The process by which plants use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar (a form of energy that living things can use to do work) carbon dioxide + water glucose + oxygen The stems, leaves, fruit, seeds, etc. of the plant are made up of glucose. Video- “Photosynthesis in Plants”
4
Cellular Respiration The process in which the cell makes ATP (a form of energy that organisms use to do work). Where does cellular respiration occur? glucose + oxygen + ATP carbon dioxide + water + even more ATP Video- “Cellular Respiration Steps”
5
Review Photosynthesis: Review Cellular Respiration:
6
LT- Today, I can apply my understanding of cellular respiration to the systems of the body by creating a informative diagram. What the systems of the body used in cellular respiration? Do Now: What system of the bodies are needed to bring in glucose and oxygen?
7
Draw this in your notebook:
8
What are the substances needed for cellular respiration? Glucose Oxygen
The digestive system brings glucose in and breaks it down The respiratory system brings oxygen in The circulatory system delivers glucose to the cells The circulatory system delivers oxygen to the cell
9
What are the substances released during cellular respiration
What are the substances released during cellular respiration? Water Carbon dioxide The circulatory system picks water up from the cell and delivers it to The circulatory system picks carbon dioxide up from the cell and delivers it to The respiratory system releases the carbon dioxide The excretory system releases water from the body
10
How will the oxygen get into the body
and to the cell? The oxygen is brought into the body by the respiratory system and is delivered to the cells by the circulatory system.
11
How will the glucose get into the body
and to the cell? Glucose is brought into the body by the digestive system and is delivered to the cells by the circulatory system.
12
How will the carbon dioxide get away from the cell and out of the body?
The circulatory system picks up the carbon dioxide from the cell and the respiratory system releases (excretes) it from the body.
13
How will the water get away from the cell and out of the body?
The circulatory system picks the water up from the cell and the urinary system or the integumentary system (sweat) releases (excretes) it from the body.
