How to Spend Time in Prayer
2
Get alone with God! Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

“Great eagles fly alone; great lions hunt alone; great souls walk alone – Alone with God.” ~ Leonard Ravenhill
4
Read and pray the Bible! Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Psalm 119:18 Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.
6
Pour out your soul to God!
Psalm 42:4 These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng. Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
7
Confess your sins! Psalm 69:5 You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you. Psalm 32:5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. “While I justified my silence for a while, eventually I just couldn’t do it anymore. While my sins may have seemed small compared to others, they were sins just the same – and I knew they were destroying me. They were spiritual kryptonite to my Superman persona.” ~ Spencer Burke

Pray for people in brief or in detail, by mention or by intercession!
1 Thessalonians 1:2 (NASB) We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; Lamentations 2: The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. You walls of Daughter Zion, let your tears flow like a river day and night; give yourself no relief, your eyes no rest. 19 Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at every street corner.
9
Give God praise! Psalm 68:19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.
10
Pray aloud! Psalm 142:1 I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy. Mark 14: Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
11
Wait on the Lord silently and listen!
1 Samuel 3:10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
12
Let your posture express the attitude of your heart!
Genesis 17:3 Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, Exodus 9:29 Moses replied, “When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the LORD.” 1 Kings 8:54 When Solomon had finished all these prayers and supplications to the LORD, he rose from before the altar of the LORD, where he had been kneeling with his hands spread out toward heaven. Mark 6:41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he [Jesus] gave thanks and broke the loaves.
