Criteria for Single Track
Two open rooms for at least three years and adequate parking Three open rooms for at least three years and adequate parking

Board/Committee Priorities
Create an attendance boundary for Ponderosa School Promote neighborhood schools Reduce transportation When possible, move students only once Preserve single track calendar at existing schools and, if possible move remaining schools to a single track calendar

Advantages/Disadvantages to Boundary Scenario
Creates a new boundary for Ponderosa Ponderosa opens as multi-track Provides enrollment relief for Mann Students who were on a single track calendar forced back to multi-track calendar Allows Stoddard to go single track Edison remains multi-track Prevents Palm Lane from going back to multi-track Ross and Revere are arguably underutilized Consolidates Haster Street corridor Ross demographics change from 14.8% of families under poverty line to 21.7% Consolidates North Central Bussing Palm Lane students moved from newly modernized school Depending on numbers, some schools may be able to go single track in future years Students moved out of Edison 3 years ago moved back into Edison

Committee Recommendations
Approve the boundary scenario, as presented, at the February 22, 2010 Board meeting Close Francis Scott Key School, effective June 30, 2010 Open Ponderosa School as a multi-track year round school, effective July 1, 2010

Ponderosa School will be bussed to the former Francis Scott Key School campus until construction is completed at the Ponderosa campus (late 2010) Move Alexander Stoddard School to a single track calendar
