4. Daily Routines: Coming inside in the morning
Reading books and homework
Seating arrangements
Our timetable
Lunchboxes on rack. Gate locked by 9:05. If need a chat member of staff out there to take notes. Early work – benefits. New doors – safeguarding.

5. Timetable: PE Days are Tuesday and Thursday PPA day Thursday
French on Tuesday
English and maths daily. RE weekly. Guided reading.

6. The Curriculum: Cross-Curricular links are made as much as possible
We follow the National Curriculum – question led
Power Maths
Focus English
Religious Education follows the Oxford Diocese curriculum
STEAM Week, performance! English and maths – might be fluency/guided reading. Also discuss Power Maths.

8. Assessment:
Children are assessed against their own year group standards
We assess without levels
Working Towards (WT)
Achieving the expected level (EXS)
Achieving at a greater depth (GDS)
Assessments are on-going
Attainment and progress are updated at least termly
NFER assessments support teacher judgements and enable us to assess against National Standards
Assessment is to check progress. No CATs in Year 4. Predictions will be given out as usual just before parents evening.

9. Home learning Reading – three times a week(school books or home)
New home learning folders
Home learning (maths and grammar) – weekly (Friday to Wednesday)
Home learning may sometimes be project based
Reading home learning – weekly
Reinforce this is an expectation from the policy but that adult support is available. Homework club? Times tables - test

10. Reading:
Focus on demonstrating comprehension and understanding, not just word recognition or sight vocabulary
Children will not 'move up’ through the book bands without demonstrating this
Individual reading, guided reading and comprehension work across the curriculum will all contribute to this within school
Reading records offer valuable information
Most children can probably ‘read’ but there is obviously more to just decoding. Reading challenges can involve any text types.

11. Times tables:
Children are expected to know all of their tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4
A new national test is coming in this year
Little and often is the best way to learn
Lots of free apps/games available TT Rockstars, Purple Mash, Sumaze Primary
Knowing the corresponding division facts is also important
National test

12. Expectations: Class rules: Listen, Respect, Safe Behaviour
Explain about pencil cases – trial basis after last year. Everything must be labelled and children actually need useful stuff. 100% their responsibility.

Grey or white socks ; or grey tights (not trainer socks)
Black school shoes (low heeled)
Navy and White check cotton dress for summer wear

P.E. and Games Kit - Girls and Boys
Navy Blue shorts (not cycle shorts)

School hoodies and tracksuits are available from the website
Trainers (from Year 1-Year 6)
PE kit bag (drawstring sports bag)
Long hair must be tied back for all physical activities (including boys)
Hair Accessories
Long hair should be tied back with a suitable navy blue or white band
Hair bows must be an appropriate size and plain coloured, in line with school colours.
 Jewellery/Earrings
with the exception of wristwatches, pupils are not allowed to wear ANY jewellery. 
Any earring that needs to remain in because of recent piercing or sensitive ears need to be taped by parents prior to arrival at school or by the child prior to physical activity
Nail Polish
Nail polish/ gels should not be worn at any time in school.
Laces

15. Helping at Home: Please value the reading and homework tasks
Encourage good sleep and eating habits, plus exercise
Ensure children have the correct uniform and equipment
Maths parent sessions
Shoes can lace up etc. We have seen a correlation between those children completing reading challenges and those achieving greater depth. End of year expectation to know words from word list and times tables up to 12 x 12.
