Axin induces extensive apoptosis in the lymphocytes of DDTg mice.
Axin induces extensive apoptosis in the lymphocytes of DDTg mice. Hematoxylin and eosin staining (A, B, E, and F) and TUNEL staining (C, D, G, and H) were performed on sections of thymus (A–D) and spleen (E–H) of 3-wk-old mice. Lymphocytes were normally packed in the thymus (A) and spleen (E) of control mice. Fragmented nuclei were identified in the thymus (B) and spleen (F) of 3-wk-old DDTg mice. The insets display magnified images revealing the nuclear morphology. In the TUNEL assay, high levels of apoptotic signals were detected in the thymus (D) and spleen (H) of DDTg mice. Background levels of apoptosis were observed in the thymus (C) and spleen (G) of control mice. Bars: (A, B, and E–H) 62.5 μm; (C and D) 250 μm. Wei Hsu et al.
