Example 1: Radha is ‘x’ years of age now. 4 years from now, her age will be _____ Solution: Given: Radha’s age is x To find: Radha’s age 4 years from now ‘4’ years from now ‘4’ years older Age increases x Radha’s age = x 4 years from now she will be 4 years older. So, we have to add 4 years from Radha’s today’s age. Radha’s age 4 years from now = x+4 Ans: x+4

Father’s age is unknown. To find: Arivazhagan’s age in terms of his father’s age 30 years younger Age decreases Arivazhagan’s age Arivazhagan’s father’s age Arivazhagan’s fathers age is unknown. So, Arivazhagan’s father’s age = x Arivazhagan is 30 years younger than his father. So, his age is 30 years less than his father’s age (x). Arivazhagan’s age = x-30 Ans: x-30
