1 Liver fat content and impairment of insulin sensitivity and β-cell function in obese children and adolescents. Liver fat content and impairment of insulin sensitivity and β-cell function in obese children and adolescents. The whole-body insulin sensitivity index (WBISI) decreased (P = 0.007) across low (median 0.7%), moderate (median 4.5%), and high (median 28.8%) liver fat content (%) tertiles. The insulinogenic index (IGI) tended to be higher (P = 0.05) and the DI tended to be lower (P = 0.05) in the high tertile compared with the low tertile.
