Clemson holds- 81,500 (top is 86000) & USC holds- 80,250 (you could fill either over EIGHT times with adults & youth living with mental illness in our state) DIAGNOSABLE per SAMHSA Mental illness is more prevalent than the general media and the public think. The more awareness we bring to the mental health conversation, the more apt people may become toward getting help. The average time a person waits before seeking treatment is 10 years. As with any illness the longer treatment is delayed, the more serious symptoms can become.

The Impact of Mental Illness
Mental illnesses can be more disabling than many chronic physical illnesses. For example: The disability from moderate depression is similar to the impact from relapsing multiple sclerosis, severe asthma, or chronic hepatitis B. “Disability” refers to the amount of disruption a health problem causes to a person’s ability to: Work Carry out daily activities Engage in satisfying relationships
