3 Introduction - Mission of the GAEC Library
In line with Section 3 (f) GAEC Act 588, 2000, The GAEC Library exists to serve as a resource base for information on the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology in Ghana. It aims at acquiring scientific literature relevant to the interests of the user population, organizing and making them available to the research scientists, technologists, technicians and other workers of the Commission.

4 Introduction - Mission of the GAEC Library (Continued)
It also extends its services to other institutions in the country and the general public as a whole.

5 INIS Promotion – Research Abstracts
A publication titled “Graduate School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences University of Ghana Research Abstracts ( )”. This contains abstracts of research projects (M.Phil., Ph.D., Pg.Dip) by past students from the Graduate School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences (SNAS), University of Ghana that were processed and forwarded to the International Nuclear Information System. This publication is to serve as a reference point for students, researchers and lecturers all over the world.

PDF document was converted into Microsoft word. Research projects were grouped into the various departments at SNAS namely: Department of Nuclear Engineering, Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications, Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, Department of Medical Physics and Department of Nuclear Agriculture Radiation & Processing. The various departments under SNAS were then grouped by year of publication and then alphabetically by title. Publication available online at abstracts-cover-page/

15 INIS Promotion – INIS Training Programme
Organized from 11th - 13th April by the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission Library at the various institutes to create awareness about the GAEC online digital library and INIS. A presentation was made during the programme titled “The GAEC library as a resource base for information on the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology in Ghana: An overview of the GAEC digital library and INIS”. It sought to promote the usefulness of using INIS, create awareness about the role of the GAEC library as the national INIS centre, activities carried out the library and some achievements chalked so far. Presentation is available online on the GAEC digital library

16 GAEC Online Digital Library
How did it come about? GAEC strategic plan required the Library to establish a Local Area Network (LAN) access to the GAEC Library database, Online Public Access Catalogue to enhance library material & access to remote digital information (GAEC, 2011, p. 8). The GAEC Library with assistance from the ICT Department then developed the GAEC online digital library to serve as the organizational repository and enhance access to relevant nuclear literature. Not been able to provide full-text of some Non-conventional literature to INIS due to copyright issues.

19 Theses/Dissertations
How we collaborate with the Balme Library, University of Ghana to make theses freely available online: Theses sent to the digitization section of the Balme library at the University of Ghana, legon. They are uploaded online and the links provided to the GAEC library. The GAEC library then provides the links of the full text of these theses on its online digital library as well as the link for the INIS input record. Users who find a theses from Ghana on the INIS repository can then search for the record on our online digital library to find out if the full text is available.

26 Annual Input From Ghana

27 Annual Input from Ghana
Theses and Journal articles are the dominant records sent to INIS. Ghana was the third highest contributor for theses publications in This was partly due to the Library acquiring more relevant nuclear sciences publications from other institutions in the Ghana. In 2017 we processed and sent our highest number of records since joining INIS.
