Identify Cross Sections of Solid Figures PRISMS A prism is a polyhedron with congruent, parallel bases. If a plane intersects the prism parallel to the base, determine the shape of the cross section. What will a slice of a prism look like? A prism is the same shape at the top and bottom. A slice or cross section of a prism will be the same shape as the base. Answer: The cross section will be the same shape and size as the base. Example 1
