Logging On If you are logging on to a College computer for the first time: Your log-in or username is your 8-digit ID number, eg Your default password is your date of birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY, eg 14/10/2002 You must change your password when you first log on – this must be done on a College computer not from home

College Computers There are computers you can use in the library, the North Wing Learning Zone, the science study area and the social area You can borrow laptop computers from the library for one-day loans; these will automatically connect to the College Wi-Fi You can also borrow laptops from the lockers in the North Wing Learning Zone You can bring in your own devices and connect to Wi-Fi too (WLAN4 using your network account)

Computer Software Icons for Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) as well as 2 internet browsers (Internet Explorer and Google Chrome) will be on your desktop You can open other applications provided by the College from the Start button in the lower left

Saving your Work You have 2 personal drives in which to save your documents: the N:\ drive on any college computer or your OneDrive (mapped to the U:\ drive in college) We recommend saving your files on the OneDrive because they are easily managed outside College via the Office 365 Portal and data is backed up constantly so you can restore versions if necessary

Student-Shared Network Drive
Your tutors and teachers may provide documents via the Student-Shared drive which is mapped to the T:\ drive Outside College, you can access the Student-Shared drive via the Home Access Plus site (links found on the College website or Woodle in Services menu)

Printing and Photocopying
You are given £2 of print credits at the beginning of each year (about 200 b/w pages); additional print vouchers of £2 and £5 can be purchased from the library Print to the Student_Print virtual printer and release your printing from photocopiers in the library, the North Wing Learning Zone, the pastoral area or the Phillips Building

Log into the photocopiers using your ID card to release your printing or to make copies You must first register your ID card on the photocopiers: tap on the card reader on the front (where the red light is showing), then enter your username (student ID) and password when prompted Tap your card on the reader again to log out or press the log out button on the display

Woodhouse Learning Environment It’s our VLE/intranet/learning platform
You can access it from College (it is the first tab on an internet browser opened on a College computer) or from home (vle.woodhouse.ac.uk) Note: You cannot use Woodle outside College until you have first logged in at College and changed your password.

You can use Woodle to sign up for events, activities and trips
Sometimes these have costs: when registering, on-screen instructions will take you through a debit card payment system, which you can use or send an to someone to pay on your behalf There is a waiting list system for events if you are not quick enough to book a place

Woodhouse College Dashboard
Like Woodle, it’s customised to you: your timetable, attendance, exam entries/results, mark book and ILP We also use Dashboard for pastoral and progress concerns, academic support / disciplinary stages and targets

Your parents will also have a login to the Dashboard associated with your data You can access it from College (it is the second tab on an internet browser opened on a College computer) or from home (est.woodhouse.ac.uk – link also on the college website in Services menu)

Woodhouse Email The email program is Microsoft Outlook
Your address is {Your ID – eg You should check your every day You should use your college address for all college-related communications but better to use your personal address for personal use since it is only valid while you study at Woodhouse

Email from Anywhere You can email from any computer or mobile device
Outlook is browser-based and accessible via the Office 365 Portal You can have s on your mobile devices by downloading the Microsoft Outlook app (more information in Woodle Services)

Microsoft Applications
With your Woodhouse account, you can install Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) on your home computer, laptop and mobile devices Login to the Office 365 Portal and click on the Install Office link

Google Classroom Many teachers use Google Classroom to distribute resources, assign and mark homework and convey messages They will give you a code to join a class Links to Google Classroom can be found in Woodle (Links) and Dashboard (Quick Links) Your login details are the same as your network account

Kerboodle Some subjects – especially Modern Foreign Languages – use Kerboodle, a system with access to many resources and activities Your username and your default password are your student ID (eg ); you must change your password when you first login A link to Kerboodle can be found in Woodle (Links)

Unifrog You can use Unifrog to research university courses (here and abroad), apprenticeships and job opportunities You will log your work experience and skills development on Unifrog There will be separate training on Unifrog this week.

eSafe We run a program called eSafe across our network. This alerts senior staff if anyone keys in words or view images that might trigger a safeguarding concern such as related to self-harm, suicidal thoughts, anorexia, cyberbullying, pornography, weaponry, etc.

Misuse of Computers Please look after College computers and other hardware; report any damage or problems to Bring back borrowed laptops on time and leave them properly plugged in if borrowed from the locker – they need time to re-charge before lending again If you leave your PC for a few minutes, make sure you lock it!

Use IT Safely Don’t post anything online or on social media that you wouldn’t be happy a future employer seeing Remember nothing is ever deleted; even snapchat posts can be captured without you knowing Check your security settings on Facebook and other media – who can see what? Is location information visible to others? Do not abuse the system for inappropriate messages
