4 Reading: Reading records handed in every day
At home, children are to read at least 3 times a week Entries in reading records do not have to be school books – any reading can be recorded Children change their own books in Year 4 Parent comments in books (see examples) If the reading record is not signed 3 times within a week, children are given the opportunity to read in school over a break time

5 Maths: Place value: Numbers beyond 1,000. Rounding
Addition and subtraction – 4 digit numbers Multiplication and division including written methods Measure Data handling Shape, symmetry, angles, coordinates, position and direction Fractions and decimals (including money) Time / Converting time

6 Times tables: By the end of Year 4, your child should know
ALL their times tables up to 12 x 12. Weekly tables / Turbo tables End of year ‘Multiplication check’ Times tables at home

13 Homework Handed in each Wednesday One homework task from the left grid
Spellings should be written into books, applied into sentences. Weekly spelling test on following Wednesday Times tables should be written out into homework books Homework will be checked and acknowledged by an adult If homework is not handed in by Wednesday, children will complete the work at school Presentation of homework

It is essential that we have up-to-date addresses and telephone numbers Please ensure you download the app which accompanies the school website Where permission slips are required, we are still working this out. If you have a printer, you can download letters, print and return. Letters & communications may also be made available on SeeSaw

16 Coming into class Outside door will open at 8.40am
Children will enter through the cloakroom doors. Please note: Parents are not permitted entry If parents need to communicate with the teacher, either message on Seesaw, write in the reading record or meet at the end of the day. Registers close at 9.00am – children who arrive after this time will need to go to the office Morning tasks – a chance to consolidate, revisit and wake up! Children will leave from the back door. Permission will be needed, in writing, for children who walk home alone or to the gate.

17 Preparing for Year 4 September – Mayan cooking day (costs covered by school) October Harvest festival - food donation to come to school. Parents invited to join at St Mary’s church December Christingle service. Children are bring in a large orange. Parents also invited to join at St Mary’s church December Christmas fete Christmas jumper day / Christmas dinner Spring term – Swimming lessons £12.50 March World book day – Dressing up as favourite book character April – trip to Rye Meads £16 June – Roman dress up day – Please provide an outfit that children can change into by themselves £1 per child for materials 3 x class presentations throughout the year (dates to follow) Summer term – Camping at Tolmers £125 for 3 days (2 nights away)
