2 Who watches ITV? What? The Voice, Britain Got Talent or Love Island?
Who are we?

3 Who are ITV...? We’re an integrated producer broadcaster operating the largest commercial family of channels in the UK In addition to traditional broadcasting on our channels we deliver our content on demand through numerous platforms both directly and via the ITV Hub Through ITV Studios, we produce content for both our own channels and other broadcasters in the UK and overseas Our distribution business sells programmes and formats worldwide We produce shows (on our own channels and other channels like BBC [university challenge, Graham Norton, Poldark] and channel 4 [Countdown & Come dine with me] but also broadcast shows. We also have ITV hub where you can catch up shows online and download (x Factor, love island, britain got talent). What is the biggest thing we make in the north?

4 Although Quay Street was hugely important in the development of ITV over the last half a century, we needed to move to a location that would provide the facilities required to develop our business in the fast paced, multiplatform world which forms the modern television industry.

5 Being part of the MediaCityUK site has brought renewed vibrancy and engagement to ITV. The proximity to like minded companies, in such a fantastic setting, reminds us all just how exciting the future of our industry is and we are constantly very proud to say we are part of europe’s largest media hub

9 How do we support and work with Education?
Next slides explain

10 NORTHERN LIGHTS SHINE ACROSS THE REGIONS
ITV is committed to supporting training and development, not least as we need to be continually mindful of where the next generation of media professionals is coming from. The Industry has a responsibility to work with education establishments to achieve this and our Northern Lights Pilot has really shown us that a wealth of high end creative talent exists in schools, colleges and universities across the North. We work with universities across the regions and our move to Media City introduced a greater relationship with our neighbours Salford Media University (literally we look down in to the uni!)including colleagues helping shape courses, working on unique projects including the only one we’ve ever done which gives access to the Corrie lot for students for film on, sharing work placements and many guest lectures etc. With initiatives like northern lights we feel we can help to plug skills gaps and influence new ways in which Higher Education Institutes, like Salford University, get to work alongside us. Salford University Lunchtime Talks Regional News regularly take work experience placements from Salford University RTS NW Student Conference Salford Social CVS Alianance (10% improvement Better living for local people)

15 Myths about entry careers at ITV?
I’m only 16 I want to be a lawyer - ITV doesn’t have roles for me I can’t afford to work unpaid Some of the things we hear about working in the media industry - we try to dispel these by going into schools and colleges, as well as the Universities. We have even been asked to attend an assembly in a primary school! ITV is just on-screen I haven’t been to university You have to be creative to work at ITV Apprenticeships are just for plumbers, electricians etc I didn’t study media at college or university ITV don’t hire people like me
