Don’ts I’ve been writing short stories for more than a decade and have participated in dozens of workshops and conferences as a reader, panelist, and moderator. Recently, I attended the Audio Wow conference, and after meeting Ira Glass, I started thinking about how I could use radio as a storytelling tool. I want to attend Pod People in 2019 to help make this dream a reality.

Dos Author Tim O’Brien wrote: “Storytelling is the essential human activity.” But while stories aren’t going away any time soon, the way they’re consumed is changing. Nearly one in five Americans now listen to audiobooks, and half of US homes are podcast fans. In order to stay competitive as a writer, I need to adapt my work for digital media. As a first step, I want to attend Pod People 2019—a weeklong workshop that teaches writers how to translate written work for audio and record, edit, and market podcasts. I’m requesting $1,200 to cover the costs of registration ($600), travel ($400), and lodging ($200) for this year’s workshop. Following my completion of the workshop, I will…
