School Rules RULES Classroom Cafeteria Hallway Restroom Bus Be Prompt.
Arrive to class on time Arrive in the cafeteria before the tardy bell sounds Move quickly to class Use the restroom in between classes Arrive at the bus stop on time Be Respectful. Follow directions first time given No shouting across the table Walk to the right side of the hallway No horse playing in the restroom Use your “inside” voice when speaking to others Be Responsible. Bring all classroom materials to class Empty your tray after eating No running or shouting in the hallway Flush and/or throw away all personal items Don’t leave paper, trash, or personal items on the bus Be Safe. Keep hands & feet to self No throwing items or running in the cafeteria. Students must remain seated Wash your hands before leaving the restroom Remain in your seat while the bus is moving

Entering the building Students may enter the building beginning at 6:45 A.M. Students may enter the school building through the new gym and the cafeteria All students are subjected to be searched and all personal belongings Students may only go to the cafeteria or the new gym before the bell rings at 7:08 A.M. Students are expected to be in their 1st period class by 7:15 A.M. If students arrive to school after 7:30 A.M., they must check in the attendance office with a parent or, parent(s) will be contacted to inform them of the tardy. Classroom consequences will be implemented during this time period, if student is frequently late to school. The student must make arrangements to make up any missed assignments with the first period teacher.

Bus Riders Riding the school bus is a Privilege not a Right!
Misconduct will lead to suspension and removed from the bus Have your bus pass at all times If you lose your pass, you can purchase your bus pass from Mrs. Young in the main office only during your lunch for $1.00 Students must ride their assigned bus to prevent overcrowdings. Buses leave campus at 2:23 p.m. See Mr. Bacchus for all other transportation concerns before the end of the day

Student Drivers All student drivers must purchase a decal from Mrs. Wright in the Main Office for $30 Students must have a valid license and insurance All student drivers must complete the Student Driver Contract Students are not allowed to enter the student parking lot once they arrive on campus until 2:15 p.m. Student drivers must leave by 2:25 p.m.

Dress code Acceptable Dress: Pants must be of appropriate size and worn at the waist. Ripped pants: if rips are above the knee-leggings must be worn under the ripped pants. If the rips are below the knee then leggings are not required. Waist length sweaters and appropriate sized jackets can be worn inside the school for warmth. Students may conduct the following check to make sure dresses, skirts, and shorts are appropriate length: measure by placing hands down on side of body- middle finger indicates appropriate length. Unacceptable Dress:Tights, spandex, yoga pants, biking shorts, short shorts, short dresses, or slits above the knee, tight tops, tight pants, tight dresses, bareback or bare midriff tops-shirts-or dresses (short shirts-crop tops), low cut apparel, tank tops, spaghetti straps, or mesh shirts. Jeggings and leggings can only be worn with a loosely fitted tunic or shirt that falls below the buttocks. Any transparent, torn, or ripped clothing. Any clothing that pictures or advertises substances that are illegal by law for minors. Violent, profane, or suggestive in nature or indicates gang activity and involvement, or derogatory remarks of an ethic nature. Shower shoes-flip flops-slides can NOT be worn at school (sandals must have a heel strap). Students cannot have blankets at school (at no time should a student have a blanket in class or in the hall). Hoodies can not be worn in BHS building. All head gear such as caps, skull hats, bonnets, wave-caps, do-rags, scarves, toboggans, etc. can not be worn in BHS building.(This is not all inclusive)

Cellphones Cell phones/electronic devices may be used in the following areas: before/after school, and during lunch in the cafeteria. Cell phones/electronic devices may not be seen or used during instructional time for any purpose. BHS classrooms are “NO PHONE ZONES” during official instructional periods as indicated by the BHS bell schedule. Ear buds/headphones can NOT be used in the classroom or halls, they can NOT be visible (ear buds/headphones can be used before/after school and during lunch in the cafeteria). Under no circumstance is photographing or video recording allowed anywhere on the school premise. Using your phone during class is Prohibited! Failure to comply will result in your phone being confiscated for 24hrs. Refusing to turn in your phone will result in immediate administrative consequence. If you continually violate rules, use your phone to cyberbully, or post a school fight, your cellphone rights will be revoked until the end of the grading quarter.

Class cutting/leaving campus
For your safety students must follow their assigned schedules at all times. Class cutting will not be tolerated. Habitual behavior will lead to suspension and possible expulsion. Students are not allowed, under any circumstance, to leave campus at any time during the school day without a parent/guardian. Student will receive consequences if caught leaving campus.

Cafeteria -Students will respect the authority of supervising monitors. -Students will talk using quiet voices. -Students will remain seated in the cafeteria at all times after receiving lunch. -Students will keep their area clean and dispose of all trash in the appropriate places. -Students will display appropriate behavior in the serving lines/areas

Hall passes -If a student leaves class without permission, it warrants an immediate office referral. -Students should remain seated until the bell rings at the end of class. The teacher dismisses the class—not the bell! Students may not line up at the door prior to dismissal. -Students should not be allowed to leave class during the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes of each class period. -Students MUST have a hall pass at all times-NO EXCEPTIONS!

Bullying Bullying is the use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants. This conduct will not be tolerated at anytime. Continued behavior can lead to expulsion and be charged by Shelby Sheriff Office Any student who feels bullied (including cyberbullying) should report to a teacher or grade level administrator immediately.

Student attendance Students arriving to 1st period class at or after 7:30 will report to the Attendance office for an admit and to notify parents of late arrival Students arriving late to 2nd-7th period will result in the following consequences: verbal warnings, phone call home, and parent conferences. If you are absent from school, you must bring a written excuse to your 1st period teacher within 48 hours of absence to make up work from missed classes. You will be responsible for meeting with each of teacher to receive make-up work from missed days.

Dismissal -Students must exit the building at 2:15 P.M. There is NO re-entry into the building once students are dismissed. -Teachers will monitor the halls as students are leaving to ensure that students are safe and exiting the building. -If teachers/students have after school activities, they are to report to the cafeteria. Students will be picked up from the gym by their sponsor and be escorted to the meeting location. -Students must report to the cafeteria by 2:20 -All Buses leave campus at 2:23 p.m.
