9 Science CONGRATUALTIONS Year 11!
Module Results from last summer GCSE examinations in Double and Triple Science currently show Y11 students have achieved: A*-A 38% Best GCSE A*-C 64% Best GCSE (For the whole cohort) Predicted outcome in Summer is for students to improve the A*-C significantly, we have a Faculty target of 80%. Please support us with our intervention and targeted work with your children Science

10 Science There are 2 tiers of entry
The easiest way to get a B grade is to do two foundation theory entries and a good practical exam and/or one paper at higher tier (teacher to suggest best one) The highest mark attainable on a Double Science foundation paper is 83 UMS marks (This is one off a B grade) It is much easier to score 83 on the foundation paper than the higher paper Science

11 Science Neon & Krypton are the top two double science sets
Year 11 teaching groups Neon & Krypton are the top two double science sets Xenon, Radon, Caesium & Polonium are mixed ability groups 2 triple science groups – Hydrogen and Helium Science

12 Science YEAR 11 EXAM DATES are on your information letter
RESITS OF YEAR 10 UNITS You can only resit once The best mark counts meaning there is little risk Late entries or changes of tier are VERY expensive, get your resit in forms by the school deadline Science

13 Science HOW DO YOU GET A GRADE?
For the Double Award Science, students will get a double GCSE grade. It is worth two GCSE’s. The grades awarded are based on a 15 point scale with the grades awarded as: A*A*/A*A/AA/AB/BB/BC/CC/CD/DD /DE/EE/EF/FF/FG/GG The grades though are NOT split and do not mean for example an AB grade is an A in one paper and a B in the other. It means the double grade standard achieved is between an A and a B grade. Contact details are given on your letter if you need more help. Science
