IM4Q Report Choice and Control During the Day and for Leisure Time 26% of the individuals interviewed reported that someone else chose what they do during the day. 51% of individuals reported that when they chose their work or day activity they had an option to go where people without disabilities go 46% of individuals saw no other places when choosing what they do during the day.

Medically Complex Initiative
Policy statement - DHS believes that all children should have the opportunity to live at home. Multi-Office and Departmental Initiative Goals: Improve supports to families (birth, adoptive, foster) so that children can grow to full adulthood living at home with a bond to a loving adult. Create family-based alternatives so that children who cannot live with birth families can grow to adulthood living in an alternative home with a bond to a loving adult.

Medically Complex Initiative
ODP amended the ID/A waivers to support children birth – 8. ODP has reserved waiver capacity (10 Consolidated Slots) to support children to move out of residential settings and receive support in their home or a family-based alternative setting DHS is exploring models like EveryChild Texas to build statewide capacity and resources for families and hospitals.
