2 Graduation requirements
English (Alg. I & II, Geometry, and 4th higher level math) Math - 4 (Students must be enrolled in a math course each year of High school) Science - 3 (Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry) Social Studies - 3 (World Hist. & Geography, U.S. History & Geography, Economoincs, & U.S. Government) Wellness & Physical Education Personal Finance Fine Arts Foreign/World Language (two years of he same language) Elective Focus Total

3 GRADES AND RANK GPA and student rank is determined by the semester (June) and January) GPA (weighted and unweighted) Rank is based on your weighted GPA

4 Graduating with state honors
Students who score at or above all of the subject area readiness benchmarks on the ACT or the equivalent score on the SAT, will graduate with honors. English - 18 Mathematics - 22 Reading - 22 Science - 23

5 Graduating with state distinction
Students with graduate with distinction if they earn an overall B average and complete at least one of the following: Earn a nationally recognized industry certification Participate in at least one of the Governor’s schools Participate in one of the state’s All state musical organizations Be selected as a National Merit finalist or semi-finalist Attain a 31 or higher composite score on the ACT Attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two AP exams Earn 12 or more semester hours of postsecondary credit (via Advanced Placements Exams of 3 or above and/or Dual Enrollment

The ACT covers 4 academic areas (Math, Science, Reading Comprehension, English) - 3 hours The SAT covers 3 academic areas (Math, Writing, and language) - 3 hours Both have an optional essay ACT Prep course and ACT bootcamps are offered at Bolton High ACT test dates can be found at

7 Senior Weekly Newsletter
The newsletter is ed every Sunday. Students and parents are encouraged to sign-up Contains information about college representatives, scholarships, volunteer, graduation, etc.

8 Applying to colleges Choose 3-5 colleges
Complete college applications between August and November Applications are online Resources are available in the guidance office Request your official transcript to be sent to the college to which you applied Request your ACT scores be sent to

9 Athletes If you plan on participating in athletics at the collegiate level, you must register with NCAA Clearinghouse by December 1, 2019. 11 Financial Aid (2 of 4) FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid This is the ONE application for federal student aid, state sutdent aid, and the Hope Lottery Scholarship Complete application between Oct. 1, 2019 and Jan. 1, 2020 You will use your PARENTS 2018 tax information for the FAFSA Register for FSA ID number NOW at (this will be needed to complete FAFSA). Senior needs an ID and ONE parent needs an ID - different addresses required Be sure to list a Tennessee school as your first school on FAFSA list

12 Financial Aid (3 of 4) HOPE Lottery Scholarship
The hope lottery SCholarship ONLY applies to schools in the state of TN Qualifications for $1750 semester, increasing to $2250 semester in the junior and senior year 21 or higher on ACT OR 3.0 or higher unweighted/HOPE GPA Qualifications for additional $500 per semester 29 or higher on ACT and 3.75 or higher unweighted GPA

A last dollar, state scholarship Eligibility: Tennessee resident, graduate from high school, enroll in TN community college or TCAT Mentor provided, community service required, FAFSA Application deadline: November 1 Application available: August 1 - November 1

14 EPSOS - Early Postsecondary Opportunities
Allow students to: Earn postsecondary credits while in high school Become familiar with postsecondary rigor And expectations Develop confidence and skills for success in Postsecondary learning Make informed postsecondary and career decisions Decrease the time and cost of completing a certificate or degree

15 Dual enrollment Dual Enrollment (DE) is a college course. Students are enrolled at one of three (3) participating institutions: Bethel University, University of Memphis or Southwest Technical Community College. The first two courses (fall semester/6 credits) are free; charges may apply to all subsequent courses. Course offered at Bolton: ENG 101/102 College Algebra/Elementary Calculus Academic Success

16 Dual enrollment grant The Dual Enrollment Grant is one of the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarships, and it provides grant funding for dual enrollment tuition and fees. The Dual Enrolment grant pays the full cost of tuition and feeds for a student’s first two dual enrollment courses Information on grant eligibility and participation is available on the Tennessee Student Assistance Cooperation website.

17 Advanced placement The College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP)Program provides an opportunity for high school students to experience postsecondary-level coursework across multiple subjects. Each course is aligned to a subject-specific AP exam, which provides students the potential to earn credit for postsecondary coursework in that subject. There is an exam fee of approximately $95.00 Students must take the exam to receive AP honors points and GPA weight. AP courses available at BHS: English Literature and Composition, English Language and Composition, Psychology, and Chemistry.

18 Dual Credit Statewide dual credit classes are college-level courses taught at the high school level All students enrolled in a statewide dual credit course take the online challenge exam to assess mastery of the postsecondary-level learning objectives. There is no exam fee. Students who meet or exceed the exam cut score receive college credit that can be applied to any Tennessee public postsecondary institution. Students must take the exam to receive the additional honors points and GPA weight. Courses at BHS: Sociology.

19 SAILS Bridge MATH Seamless Alignment and Integrated Learning Support (SAILS) program targets students that have not achieved a ACT math subscore of at least 19. Students completing the SAILS math program demonstrate master of math competencies and can begin college in credit bearing courses and are not required to take remedial math classes, which earn no credit. BHS students who finish the five SAILS math modules in the fall are eligible to take the a Spring Dual Enrollment course (Statistics) through Southwest.

20 Project graduation Project Graduation IS:
-Open to SCS students in grades 9-12 - Evening courses; Up to 4 credits per semester - Credit recovery in core subjects - New coursework for accelerated graduation Project Graduation IS NOT: -an alternative to the regular school day at Bolton (You must attend BOTH)
