1 High Level Physics Applications Lehman Review February 7 - 9, 2006
Outline Required High Level Applications for Injector Commissioning Interface Diagram Task list for the HLA group Activity since November Next 6 Months

2 Required High Level Physics Applications
Required High Level Physics Applications * see LCLS PRD: Requirements for High Level Software Applications Packages by Patrick Krejcik Orbit Applications - all will be provided by SLC during the first commissioning phase Orbit display Orbit fitting Orbit corrections Bump calculation Power steering These applications require CAMAC magnet control will not be available via channel access before injector commissioning, so the SLC system and slc-aware IOCs will provide orbit apps during first commissioning.

3 Required High Level Physics Applications
Required High Level Physics Applications * see LCLS PRD: Requirements for High Level Software Applications Packages by Patrick Krejcik Emittance Application - to be developed in XAL Emittance calculation Transverse Slice Emittance Beta Matching Energy Spread Application - to be developed in XAL Energy spread calculation Slice energy spread Bunch Length Measurement - to be developed in XAL Above applications require an interface to wires and screens (OTRs / YAGs) will not be added to the SLC system - we must develop these apps in XAL Above applications will request scans or images via channel access from IOCs Above applications can receive raw data and/or sizes calculated by the IOC

4 Required High Level Physics Applications
Required High Level Physics Applications * see LCLS PRD: Requirements for High Level Software Applications Packages by Patrick Krejcik Supporting software Online model; transfer matrices and twiss parameters SLC on-line model for orbit applications XAL on-line model used for emittance and energy spread calculations Buffered acquisition - SLC Correlation plots - SLC Multiknob facility - SLC Configuration management - SLC Golden orbits, user setpoints, constants Apps not listed here are not required for commissioning Will be attended to once commissioning apps are complete

5 Interface Diagram

6 Task List for HLA group Before Injector Commissioning
Develop an LCLS online model for SLC Integration and Test of slc-aware IOC and SLC orbit applications Develop an LCLS online model for XAL LCLS RDB work to support model and logging for XAL applications Develop Emittance Application in XAL Develop Energy Application in XAL Develop Bunch Length Measurement Application in XAL After Injector Commissioning Develop interface to CAMAC devices (magnets, klystrons) Migrate orbit applications to XAL Begin developing cohesive configuration management in XAL Priorities will be driven by commissioning schedule

7 Activity Since November
SLC online model for LCLS List of MAD names and corresponding device names created (updates expected…) LCLS devices added to SLC database. Magnet panels, skeleton DGRPs created, configs started Continuous testing of slc-aware IOC as new hardware becomes available XAL for LCLS Team and assignments in place Development environment set up, XAL applications built and running An application to create an LCLS accelerator file is in progress LCLS RDB entries begun XAL demonstrated to SLAC physicists SNS support is most helpful, by and conference calls, visit from Ernest Williams test data provided by SNS We have access to the SNS RDB for testing

8 Next 6 months Complete the SLC online model for LCLS
Mark Woodley, Nancy Spencer, Mike Zelazny Integration of slc-aware IOC / SLC Applications as new hardware becomes available Debbie Rogind, Diane Fairley, Stephanie Allison, Kristi Luchini, Mike Zelazny LCLS RDB Complete application to create LCLS accelerator file Specify RDB elements for pvlogger XAL Applications Complete design reviews for XAL applications by end of March XAL online model for LCLS - Diane Fairley, Sergei Chevtsov, Patrick Krejcik Emittance Application - Debbie Rogind Energy Application - Sergei Chevtsov Bunch Length Measurement Application - Mike Zelazny
