(B) Using phase-contrast microscopy, the two small bright nuclei have distinguishable sperm tails whereas the larger nucleus does not. A high volume of debris is observed using phase-contrast microscopy. This debris is not observed under fluorescence because not all debris absorbs the fluorescent Hoechst stain.
