2 Study Hall Held in the theater starting at 8:15
Students need to bring a book to read or use this time to review school work.

3 Breakfast Students may buy breakfast in the cafeteria from 8:45 – 9:05. If students enter after 9:05, they will still be permitted to eat and will be given a pass to class if needed.

4 Purpose of homeroom Homebase for students
Watch announcements, say pledge and get organized for the day Students need to be in homeroom by 9:10 and are marked tardy at the 9:15 bell. If students arrive late, parents need to come into the Attendance Office to sign them in

5 Lockers Students are not allowed to carry their backpacks to classes.
Locker breaks are: Before homeroom After 2nd period After 5th period At the end of the day

6 Agenda Students have agendas to help them stay organized.
Most classes ask the students to write down what they do in class each day as well as the due dates of assignments. Panther pledge, expectations, and our school wide behavior management plan are on pages 4 and 7.

7 Dress Code Please review the dress code with your students (page 5 of the agenda) No holes, tears, or slits are allowed in jeans (not even with leggings or fabric underneath). Book bags/string bags/large purses are to be kept in lockers during the day. Electronic devices are to be turned off and students are encouraged to keep them in their lockers. Water bottles should be clear and contain water only!

8 Report Cards Last year, we went paperless! This year:

9 Absences Excused absences include: personal illness, death or serious illness in the immediate family, recognized religious holidays or absence mandates by order of government agency. Absence notes – must be from the parent/guardian explaining absence and must be given to the attendance office upon returning. Failure to submit a not within 3 days of an absence will result in the absence being marked unexcused.

10 Early Dismissal In order to minimize classroom interruptions, we ask that students bring a signed note from the parent that is to be taken to the attendance office to get an early dismissal pass. The student will give the pass to the teacher in the class they will be leaving early. We cannot accommodate early dismissals after 4:00 since students are moving throughout the building.

11 Afternoon Dismissal All students should be picked up no later than 4:45. There is no supervision for students after school.

12 Bus Pass No passes are given for students to ride home with another student. Many buses in are at capacity and per transportation, we are not permitted to issue friends bus passes.

18 Course Description 8th Grade Georgia Studies is a course that examines the geography, history, government, and economics of the State of Georgia. Syllabus on Blog explains details!

19 Course Description Seventh grade is the second year of a two-year World Area Studies course. Seventh grade students study Africa and Asia. The goal of this two-year course is to acquaint middle school students with the world in which they live. The geography domain includes both physical and human geography. The intent of the geography domain is for students to begin to grasp the importance geography plays in their everyday lives. The government/civics domain focuses on selected types of government found in the various areas in order to help students begin to understand the variety of governments in the world. The economics domain builds on the K-5 economics standards; however, the focus shifts from the United States to how other countries answer the basic questions of economics. The history domain focuses primarily on significant events in each region from the twentieth and twenty- first centuries. Syllabus on Blog explains details!

22 AC Description The curriculum and instructional strategies for this course are differentiated in content, pacing, process skills emphasis, and expectation of student outcomes from the typical 8th grade Social Studies course. Curriculum content has been designed for mastery and extension of state and district performance standards. The course is appropriate for students who have high achievement and interest in Social Studies. The district has established criteria and guidelines to identify students who will be successful with the advanced curriculum offered in Social Studies. Students were placed in this class according to specified indicators of demonstrated exceptional ability and motivation. If students earn below 80 at the end of the semester grading period, a student success plan will be developed and a student may be placed on probation.
