The International Student Services Office (ISSO) provides services that support the needs and interests of our international, exchange and study abroad students, such as: Immigration advising UHIP health insurance administration Orientation Transition & student life support Intercultural learning Leadership opportunities Group mentorship Ottawa area cultural events and outings

12 Course Registration Reminders
A reminder that Exchange students must maintain their full-time student status. Undergraduate students must be registered in a minimum of 3 undergraduate courses (1.5 credits) per term. A maximum of 5 undergraduate courses (2.5 credits) can be taken per term. Graduate students must be registered in a minimum of 1 graduate course (0.25 to 0.5 credits) or 3 undergraduate courses (1.5 credits) per term. A maximum of 3 graduate courses (1.5 credits) or 5 undergraduate courses (2.5 credits) can be taken per term. You should consult with your home institution: to ensure you have the correct number and type of courses each term if you decide to add or drop a course -> any changes to your study plan must be approved by your home institution

13 Exchange Student Fees Exchange students do not pay tuition to Carleton. However, they are required to pay the following fees, which will automatically be charged to their student account: Residence fees (if living on campus): University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP): Fall Term - $ CDN Full Year - $ CDN Bus Pass (U-PASS): Fall Term - $ Full Year - $ Note: An unpaid balance on your student account will result in a hold on your account and the University will not release official documents including your transcript.

14 Fee Payment You can check the balance on your student account by logging into Carleton Central and going to Student Account Summary: Payment methods (payment is not accepted in person, by cash, or by credit): Online banking (must have a Canadian bank account*) * Certain documents may be required to open a Canadian bank account (e.g. passport and study permit or visitor visa). Scotiabank is conveniently located on campus in Paterson Hall. International currency transfer (“GlobalPay for Students” – This is the preferred method for international payments) International wire transfer (be aware of hidden bank fees that may apply) Questions? 15 Important Dates and Deadlines
Registration Deadlines: Last day to add courses or change course sections for Fall 2019 term or Full Year is September 17th. Last day to drop courses for Fall 2019 term is December 6th and Full Year is April 7, 2020. Fee Payment Deadlines: Fall 2019 Term – August 25th Winter 2020 Term – November 25th Holidays (no classes): Thanksgiving – October 14th Fall Term Break – October 21st to 25th Christmas – December 25th to January 1st, 2020 Fee Payment
