Methodology The WISE aggregation reports is a WFD data viewer, available at: (user name wfduser, password Dir200060ec) WISE electronic summaries are another internal WFD data viewer with summaries of WFD data per RBD/RBMP On the website of the WISE aggregation reports, a document (1 WISE aggregation reports.doc) provides the overview of the content of the WISE aggregation reports: A list of 46 tables. These summary tables were reviewed by Hana Prchalova and Kari Austnes and quality checked and extended by Peter Kristensen. The analysis provides the overview of the content of the WISE aggregation reports as currently available, an analysis of the user-friendliness of presentation of data and information and a technical judgement of the feasibility of making the tables in the WISE aggregation reports publicly available. Analysis of the WISE aggregation reports
File name from the WFD data viewer Explanation by the data viewer, what is being presented in the tables of the aggregation report file Outcome of QA check by ETC, if the file explanation is reflecting the content of the tables in the data viewer correctly or not. Suggestions for improvements were made Expert judgement in 4 categories (high, moderate, low, not recommended) if the information in the aggregation reports is clearly understandable, interesting and relevant and can be published immediately Event/ date: WG D meeting, 28 March 12, Brussels Author: Anita Künitzer
5
Example of ‘feasible for immediate publication’ – judgement ‘high’
Number and percentage of ground water bodies failing good chemical status due to each pollutant at country level Event/ date: WG D meeting, 28 March 12, Brussels Author: Anita Künitzer
6
Example of not ‘feasible for immediate publication’ – judgement ‘low’
Investment costs in water services at country level Event/ date: WG D meeting, 28 March 12, Brussels Author: Anita Künitzer

Summary of results from the analysis (1)
“Remark by ETC experts”: Several names of summary files or explanations are not precise or fully correct (e.g. the file SWB_RIVER_DENSITY covers all surface water categories – rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal waters and information about average and total area or length only) and can confuse the public user. It is necessary to prepare better explanations on content and abbreviations especially for tables for public use. Units are frequently missing. Several tables have unclear content even for experts and it is very difficult to judge their use for the public. The methodology of data aggregation is also unclear which is the major weakness for expert users. Event/ date: WG D meeting, 28 March 12, Brussels Author: Anita Künitzer

Summary of results from the analysis (2)
“Feasible for immediate publication”: The relevance for public was filled based on expert judgement. High relevance was indicated for 7 out of 43 analysed summary files; moderate relevance for 8 total summary files and for 5 selected tables of summary files. Some information was not recommended for the immediate publication – due to very low relevance or possible confusions. After implementation of the proposed improvement of the WISE aggregation reports, more of them can be recommended for publication.
