Fig. 1 Simplified Markov decision-analytic model. A hypothetical cohort of 72-year-old patients with ruptured AAA may either undergo open surgical repair or have no intervention. The outcomes of open surgical repair may be successful repair, reversible or irreversible complication, or death. The outcome of no intervention is death.
