1 Key person What is a key person?

2 What is a key person? Someone your child can trust.
Someone who meets your child’s care needs. Keeps their records up to date. Helps smooth transitions. Share information between the setting and home. Plan for Childs interests using EYFS.

3 During settling in they….
They will support the child. Begin to bond with child. Support the childs individual needs. Feedback on how the day has been for the child. Spend time and are available on the childs first sessions.

4 What is a key persons role?
To settle in their new children. To liaise with the family. To observe the child and plan activities to help the child develop. Implement activities with the children. Keep and share records with the parents/ carers. Make the child/ family welcome in the setting.

5 How a key person develops relationships/ communication.
Works alongside parents/ carers listening to their wishes and meeting individual needs. Allows children to express themselves. Develops healthy emotional attachments with the child.

6 How they may meet care needs of a young child.
They may change nappies or support through potty training. Assist with feeding or weaning. Provide and plan physical activities to support development. Provide a secure attachment in the setting developing emotional skills.

7 Continued… They will support the child to make friends and develop social skills. They will plan to meet the learning needs of the child in all six areas of the curriculum. Working with the Childs parents/ carers to meet any needs in regards religion/ diet or special needs etc.
