11 1. I will listen and follow directions.
Classroom Management Classroom Rules: 1. I will listen and follow directions.  2. I will raise my hand to share ideas.  3. I will use a soft voice. 4. I will walk in school to be safe.  5. I will use my hands for helping and not hurting.  6. I will use kind words.  At the beginning of the school year we spend ample time explaining the importance of these rules and role playing proper and improper ways to behave in class. The students learn the rules and when they are not followed, consequences will follow. Our classroom will use a behavior management chart. At the beginning of the school day, all the students start on the green part of the chart (Ready to Learn). If a rule is broken, the student receives a verbal warning and a chance to correct the behavior. If the student is able to correct the behavior his/her pin stays on the green part of the chart. However, if the student does not correct the behavior and is spoken to a second time, his/her pin will be moved to the orange part of the chart Think About It. If the student continues with the behavior he/she will move their pin to yellow (Teacher’s Choice) he/she will have to sit out during recess for 10 minutes. Lastly, the last color on our behavior chart is red (Parent Contact). If a child goes home in red, a phone call or note will follow. Student will have to sit out for the entire recess time.

12 Classroom Management Rewards
The student may receive one of the following rewards if they remain in green: stickers, treats, or additional computer time. The core values are: Respect, Friendship, Creativity, Gratitude, Generosity, Commitment, Kindness, Patience, Peace, and Honesty. Consequences If the student’s pin is moved to the yellow part of the behavior chart, he/she will sit out 10 minutes during recess. If the student’s pin is moved to the red part of the behavior chart, he/she will sit out during the entire recess time and will have a phone call or note sent home. If the behavior persists; a conference will need to be scheduled and he/she will continue to lose special privileges.
