2 Negative Words A negative word is a word that implies that something does not exist or happen. Some common negative words are as follows: Barely none can’t Hardly no don’t Neither nobody hasn’t Never nothing No one nowhere Not scarcely

3 Double Negatives A double negative occurs when two negative words are used where only one is needed. Ex. Incorrect: You don’t have no business climbing Mt. Rushmore. Correct: You don’t have any business climbing Mt. Rushmore. or You have no business climbing Mt. Rushmore.
