Sleep patterns are SO different both within a person and between people Examples: Naps before bed Fragmentations Weekdays vs weekends

95% Raw data Valid data Correct variables Daytime Nighttime Nighttime Define times of: lying down, fall asleep, wake up, and get up Time in Bed (TIB): Defined as the sum total of individual minutes between the time the person laid down and the time they got out of bed Total Sleep Time (TST): Defined as the sum total of individual minutes between the time the person fell asleep and the time they woke up Wake After Sleep Onset (WASO): Defined as the sum total of individual minutes where sleep=0 between the time the person fell asleep and the time they woke up Final Wake Time (FWT): Defined as the time between the person woke up and got out of bed Sleep Efficiency (SE): Defined as TST/TIB By day By week
