WHERE Gent, Belgium Capital of East Flanders
Gent - Dutch (Flemish) Gand - French Ghent - English Capital of East Flanders 2nd Largest Municipality - 248,358 40 minute train ride NW from Brussels 40 minute train ride to North Sea Belgium Slightly bigger than Maryland, about the size of Kansas from Topeka to the Missouri Border 3 official languages, French, Dutch, and German

WHERE Universitair Ziekenhuis Gent
(UZ Gent) Literally means the university hospital of Gent UZ Gent is the medical school and hospital campus of UGent Very similar to KUMC (med school and hospital not on University’s main campus) A big focus on clinical education Government funded All Belgian hospitals are Belgium also has universal health insurance

WHAT Physical Therapy Clinical Rotation
Final 2 semesters (36 weeks) of KUMC DPT program is full-time clinical work 6 weeks total in Belgium 3 weeks in amputee/polytrauma clinic ⅔ amputees, some combination amputee/polytrauma Inpatient rehabilitation setting 3 weeks in musculoskeletal ⅔ neuro, ⅓ ortho Outpatient setting

Experienced autumn and winter in Belgium, which was very mild (rarely got below freezing) Very rainy and not often sunny
