OPENING: In your Interactive Notebook: What do you think of when you hear the word wave? Write a brief description of what you think a wave is. Then, write a short paragraph describing a time you might have experienced waves. EQ: How do waves transfer energy without transferring matter? GPS:S8P4 Student will explore the wave nature of sound and electromagnetic radiation. a. Identify the characteristics of electromagnetic and mechanical waves. WORK SESSION: Waves Packet-Directed Reading, Section Review, Vocabulary Activities, Reinforcement (Complete the packet with the use of the textbook) CLOSING: In your Interactive Notebook answer the following question: What are wave? Waves that require a medium called? What are waves that do not require a medium called? HOMEWORK: Complete the packets and bring back to class on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
