2. H splits into hydrogen ions (H+) and electrons (e-) 3. e-’s are passed from carrier to carrier; energy is released. 32 ATP are made. 4. Free oxygen acts as the final e- acceptor 5. e-’s, H+, and Oxygen combine to form water. Water used by the body or excreted.
