5 CLASSWORK & BELLWORK STUDENTS WILL HAVE BELLWORK DAILY & MUST KEEP A JOURNAL FOR RECORDING THIS WORK. I WILL CHECK JOURNALS ON FRIDAY’S. IF A STUDENT IS ABSENT, THEY SHOULD MARK ABSENT IN THEIR JOURNAL, SO THAT POINTS ARE NOT TAKEN OFF ON FRIDAY. EACH DAY IS WORTH 5 POINTS, SO A WEEKLY TOTAL POINTS OF 20 IS POSSIBLE! IF A STUDENT IS ABSENT ON FRIDAY, THE JOURNAL SHOULD BE GIVEN TO ME ON MONDAY TO CHECK. STUDENTS DO MOST WORK IN CLASS, THERFORE, THERE IS NOT MUCH HOMEWORK FROM THIS CLASS…..MOST OF THE TIME, IF THEY HAVE HOMEWORK FROM ME, IT’S BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T FINISH IT IN CLASS.

6 CELL PHONES WE WILL ALLOW CELL PHONE USE FOR CLASSWORK ONLY, IF IT BECOMES AN ISSUE OF CELL PHONES BEING USED FOR OTHER PURPOSES, THEN I WILL NOT ALLOW THEM OUT DURING CLASS. FOOD IN THE CLASSROOM: NO FOOD WILL BE ALLOWED IN CLASS THIS YEAR, EAT BREAKFAST AT HOME & SNACKS IN BETWEEN CLASSES. ONLY INSULATED WATER BOTTLES WILL BE ALLOWED. NO PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES OR SODA BOTTLES. IF WE EVER HAVE A ‘PARTY’ OR SUCH, THEN WE WILL DISCUSS RULES AT THAT TIME!

7 DRESS CODE DRESS CODE HAS NOT CHANGED, PLEASE REFER TO THE SCHOOL POLICY ON DRESS CODE: SKIRTS, DRESSES & SHORTS MUST BE AT OR BELOW YOUR MIDDLE FINGER WHEN HANDS DOWN TO YOUR SIDE NO EXCEPTIONS. RUNNING SHORTS WITH LONG T-SHIRTS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. NO SEE THROUGH CLOTHING NO UNDER GARMENTS SHOULD BE VISIBLE (LACE BRALETS INCLUDED) NO HOLES IN JEANS THAT ARE ABOVE THE FINGER RULE NO OFF THE SHOULDER TOPS…SHOULDERS MUST BE COVERED.

8 CTE SAFETY TEST ALL STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A CTE CLASS MUST TAKE A SAFETY TEST & SCORE ON THE TEST IN ORDER TO STAY IN THE CLASS. YOU HAVE 3 ATTEMPTS TO SCORE READ QUESTIONS CAREFULLY, SIMPLE MISTAKES WILL COST YOU. SAFETY TESTS ARE SCHEDULED TO BE TAKEN IN STEM 1 & 2 AUGUST 18. START PREPARING NOW!

REGIONAL COMPETITION: COLUMBIA STATE (LATE JANUARY OR EARLY FEBRUARY). STATE: APRIL GAYLORD OPRYLAND INTERNATIONAL: JUNE IN HOUSTON, TX **ENCOURAGE ALL STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN HOSA** HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions. HOSA is 100% health care!

10 HOSA 1st Blood drive of Our first (of four!) blood drives will be here in the gym from 7:30-1:00 & the theme is Red, White & Blue for Labor Day! Please consider helping our community and CMS HOSA by signing up to donate! You can save 3 lives by donating and you also help a CMS HOSA Senior by increasing the amount of scholarship money given at the end of the year. This past year we were able to offer a total of $2500 which was split among 3 senior members of HOSA! We run our drives a little different…we bring in home made goodies & bring lots of extra food than what’s given by the Red Cross.
