Living Life at God’s Speed 1 Corinthians 9:24 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.

HOW TO HANDLE SIN 1 John 1:6 – 2:2

1 John 1:6 – 1:10 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He (Christ) Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

1 John 2:1-2 1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

1 John 2:1 1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.

2 OPTIONS CONCERNING SIN
Option #1: WE CAN COVER OUR SINS

1. We lie to others 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him (Christ) and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;

Matthew 23:27-28 27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites
Matthew 23:  “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

2. We lie to self 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.

3. We lie to God 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Hebrews 12:5-8 5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, Nor faint when you are reproved by Him; 6 For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.” 7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

1 Corinthians 11:30 30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep.

PROVERBS 28:13 13 People who conceal their sins will not prosper . . .
Psalm 32:3 When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.

OPTION #2 – Confess 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 32:5 (NLT) 5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”     And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

Revelation 12:10 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.

1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

Romans 8:34 34 Who then will condemn us
Romans 8:34 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

2 and He (Jesus) Himself is the PROPITIATION for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
