3 Leaders or Managers? Management consists of controlling a group or a set of entities to accomplish a goal. Leadership refers to an individual's ability to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward organizational success. Influence and inspiration separate leaders from managers, not power and control.

4 What I heard and what I learned
Predominant Leadership styles Transactional Bureaucratic Less about Transformational What we value Authenticity Leader who is genuine and true to what they believe in. They understand the purpose of leadership, they lead with very consistent values, and with their heart, as well as their head. They have courage, compassion, empathy– qualities like that– and they build long-term connected relationships. And they have the personal self discipline to deliver extraordinary results from their teams (Harvard Business Review) Courage Versatility Consideration Does the PS provide a safe space to be authentic?

5 Bureaucratic, transactional, transformational
Bureaucratic leadership is leadership based upon fixed official duties under a hierarchy of authority, applying a system of rules for management and decision-making. Transactional leadership emphasizes organization, performance evaluation and rewards, and is task- and outcome-oriented. Transformational leadership focuses on motivating and engaging followers with a vision of the future. Transactional leadership works within set established goals and organizational boundaries, while a transformational approach challenges the status quo and is more future-oriented
