What’s in Each Box? Atomic # = number of protons (and electrons) in the neutral atom.

Atomic Mass Most of the mass of an atom consists of protons and neutrons. So…the atomic mass is generally the number of protons + neutrons where each proton and neutron has a mass of 1 atomic mass unit (amu)

So why do the atomic masses have fractions?
The atomic mass is actually a weighted average of the isotopes (same protons, different neutrons) of each element.
