All Fluids Exert Pressure Fluids include liquids and gases. Pressure is the amount of force exerted on a given area.

The Formula of Force Pressure = Force / Area Force = Pressure x Area
The SI unit is the pascal (pa) F P A

More on Pressure Pressure depends on the depth of the fluid Lower depth = more pressure Water also exerts pressure.

From High to Low Fluids flow from regions of high pressure to regions of low pressure. Example: breathing, drinking through a straw, tornadoes, etc.

Pascal’s Principle A change in pressure at any point in an enclosed fluid will be transmitted equally to all parts of that fluid.

Devices that use liquids to transmit pressure from one point to another are called hydraulic devices. Ex: brakes in car, earth movers
